CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

All applicants are hereby called to submit their abstracts for contributions to ICP 2008 by using the online submission form on the congress website www.icp2008.org.
The abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and may be selected for oral or poster presentation. Accepted abstracts will be published online on the congress website. The following formats are possible:

Symposia
A symposium at ICP 2008 is scheduled to last 120 minutes, which equals six speakers or five speakers and a discussant. The contributors should preferably come from more than one country.
To meet the requirements for the submission of a symposium the convenors are requested to submit a general abstract of the symposium as well as the speakers including the corresponding abstracts. Only when the submission is complete the symposium will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.

Oral Presentations
The time slot for an oral presentation at ICP 2008 is 20 minutes. The talk should last about 15 minutes which leaves another five minutes for questions and a short discussion. Individually submitted abstracts accepted for oral
presentation will be grouped into sessions based on the ICP 2008 topic list.

Posters
Each poster at ICP 2008 will be exhibited for a day or half a day in the foyer of the ICC Berlin. The posters exhibited simultaneously will be grouped into thematic sessions based on the ICP 2008 topic list.

Rapid Communication Posters
Please note that after the general submission deadline has expired, there will be an opportunity to submit rapid communication posters.
Rapid communication posters present recently completed research projects that have important key messages to be disseminated promptly or research projects that have some early or preliminary results to disseminate.

Oral presentations and posters submitted individually and accepted by the Scientific Committee will be grouped by category topics into thematic sessions in order to promote communication among the presenters and participants and to allow for inspiring discussions. As the distinction between oral presentation and poster is only a matter of presentation mode, submissions in the 2 categories will be assessed by the same criteria of scientific merit. The Scientific Committee will decide upon the final mode of presentation.

Please note that publication of each abstract is conditional upon payment of the registration fee.
Upon payment, each participant will receive a password to access the abstracts online prior to the congress.

Submitted abstracts will not be edited in any way. Thus, typographic and grammatical errors that appear in a submitted abstract will still appear in the printed abstract.

Authors are requested to conform to the following guidelines for submission of abstracts:
The abstracts are to be submitted in English, the official language of ICP 2008.
The abstract submission constitutes a formal commitment by the author to present the corresponding presentation in the session and timeslot assigned by the Scientific Committee.
Changes in authorship should be communicated to the Scientific Committee in order to ensure correct appearance in the printed program.
If the original presenting author is unable to present, one of the co-authors should take over this responsibility.

We encourage submitting authors to register via the online registration system along with the abstract submission. The acceptance of abstracts by the Scientific Committee does not include any financial assistance or fee reduction. Much to the regret of the organizers, failure to register by the presenting author by the end of April 2008 will imply that the abstract will not be included in the final program and will not be published on the website of ICP 2008.

Notification of acceptance or rejection by the Scientific Committee will be mailed to the presenting author. Detailed information, guidelines, and recommendations for oral or poster presentation, as well as time allotment,
date, hour, and venue will be sent in Spring 2008 to registered
presenting authors.

Deadline for abstract submission: 31 October 2007
Deadline for submission of rapid communication posters: 1 March 2008
